I don’t remember much about my first class (possibly due to the trauma) but I do know that my 3 day trial started on a Monday and by Thursday I had signed up for my first unlimited package. I was an unhealthy (hypertensive), out of shape and relatively low on self-confidence size 14.  I wasn’t able to do the monkey bars, the two larger walls were my mortal enemies and I walked right around the rope each time.  Running was pretty much impossible and when I heard the words ‘up to 12′ I wanted to turn around, grab my stuff, take the elevator down to 1, walk out the doors and far away (but not too far due to soreness).


Now, 5 months later, the transformation has been amazing not only physically but mentally as well.  I am a healthy (blood pressure is now under control), confident, size 4.  I am across the monkey bars, over the walls and up that rope as if it is something I have been doing my entire life.  I often look forward to the running and while I still have a hate/hate relationship with the stairs I no longer want to head to the nearest exit when those dreaded words are said.  The confidence that I feel in the gym is the same confidence I now feel in my everyday life and the changes have been dramatic in many ways.


While the hard work is my own there is no way I could have done it without the amazing trainers.  Alex, Ruben and Titus are the most encouraging people I have ever met.  They know and care about each and every one of us (and there are a lot of us).  They see our capabilities even when we don’t and they will push us both physically and mentally every time.  Through them I have learned that most of my ‘limits’ are those of my own making.


I also could not have done it without the other Warriors who often remind me that ‘I got this’ even when I’m not completely convinced.


Now, in life as in the gym, I am a true Warrior.
